Inspirations

I love this song. It just came out by Winona Oak. It explores the idea of unrequited love. The way it’s written is so powerful. At first, Winona explains how this boy is so beautiful and how he took her heart. It seems light and happy. In the chorus, however, she keeps repeating “he don’t love me.” This song inspired my poem, Dedicated To You which also happens to be about unrequited love.

May:

This is one of my favourite quotes by Rumi. I really had it in mind while writing my pieces. It shows the importance of a single person in this world, even when that person feels like they don’t mean anything.

April:

I love this poem so much. Every single line is so beautifully written. I love how Erin Hanson keeps the metaphor alive in every possible way; her body being the beautiful mother nature and Spring. This poem definitely inspired all of my pieces about self-love. The last line to me is so powerful and Erin Hanson does this in a lot of her pieces, leaving the readers with something to think about.

I remember standing in my teacher’s classroom because I was, once again, late to class. She had told me to fill out a form and so I did, while the whole class stared at me with blank expressions. Feeling foolish, I quickly wrote down all that I could and before rushing to my seat, I came across this quote that for some reason, at that moment, made me feel a lot better than just a few seconds before. This quote is taken from Winnie the Pooh and served as an inspiration for me. Everyone has bad days and having that small spark of hope and satisfaction can mean everything, even if it’s a cheesy quote taken from a Disney character.

February:

My inspiration for this month is a song that recently came out called Love Myself. In this song, Olivia, the singer, talks about how she has begun to realize that her priority is not having a plan for the future or being the same as everyone else. She really wants to focus on loving herself and not caring what others think about her. This song really inspired me because my blog is about self-love as well as finding myself and my home. When I first heard this song, I really resonated with the lyrics and got inspired to write my February Free Post, Home. In my piece, I explained how I do not know who I am, however, my body has become my home and I have begun to love myself.
