How Has Studying Published Authors Changed or Improved Your Writing?

I really believe that through Writer’s Seminar, my writing has gotten a lot more powerful and unique to my style. The different authors and writers that were presented all had such vast writings that it was very inspirational. I had so many “aha” moments and just simply learning about these writers and how they started writing and the impact their writing has had on the world is so astonishing. I went home and pulled out so many of these writers’ pieces and took ideas from them. Even just emulating their works in class have improved my writing. I’ve found that the best pieces in my writing journal, are those from Writer’s Seminars.

Are You Glad You Did Your Writer? Who Different Would You Consider? Why?

I am really happy I did my writer. Billie Eilish has been my favourite singer and songwriter for the past four years. Every time I listen to her music, I always focus in on the style, symbols, play on words, imagery, etc. I love the way she writes and the emotions her voice has. If I were to consider someone different, I would like to do Mitch Albom or even Erin Hanson. I really love their writing styles and I think that they are both very underrated. I really want to share their talent with the class, hopefully next year.

What Genres Have Interested You The Most?

I think that domestic fiction and mortality are two genres that are really fascinating to me. Domestic fiction would include books like The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto. This is one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life. I had so much fun reading it and I really hope everyone gets a chance to read it. The one thing I love about Mitch Albom’s writing is how the imagery makes the reader feel like there is a live film playing in their head. Mortality books include other works by Mitch Albom such as For One More Day, The Five People You Meet In Heaven, and many more.

What Did You Learn From The Writers? Inspirations?

I learned a lot. One thing that sounds simple to do but really isn’t is to write every day. I noticed that in almost every Writer’s Seminar, the part about advice that was given, writers mentioned writing every day. I’ve tried doing this, and it’s hard. It really helps though, I’ve found.

Any Emulations To Share?

I don’t have any emulations to share on my blog but I hope to work with some inspirations soon that I’ve had.

Do You Intend To Read More Of A Writer? Which?

I’ve known about Roald Dahl since I was in elementary but I never read any of his short stories. While Faryal and Wajeeha were presenting their Writer’s Seminar I was blown away. His writing is so dark and mysterious and bizarre but also so inspirational and fascinating. I will definitely look into his short stories and read a lot of them. I love this side of his writing.
